What Is Proposition Fire?
Proposition Fire, which will appear on the ballot for District residents on April 7, 2026, is proposing the authorization of an additional one-half of one percent (0.5%) sales tax for Fire District operations, and require a mandatory annual property tax reduction tied directly to the amount of sales tax collected within the fiscal year.

Shall the Rock Community Fire Protection District impose a sales tax of an additional one half of one percent for the purpose of providing revenues for the operation of the Rock Community Fire Protection District and the total property tax levy on properties in the Rock Community Fire Protection District shall be reduced annually by an amount which reduces property tax revenues by an amount equal to fifty percent of the previous year’s revenue collected from this sales tax?
What Changes If Proposition Fire Is Approved?
A portion of district funding will be shifted away from property tax to sales tax, which is generated by taxable purchase made by anyone who lives, works, or visits the district. Property tax reductions are required by law and may only be used for fire district purposes.
